Deer in Turnaware woods

Its much quieter here now many of the holidaymakers have left, so quiet that not only are the pheasants out of the woods, we have had several sightings of deer. Its a group of four who seem to come up the lane from Turnaware at dusk and then return to the cover of the woods during the day. They are very difficult to spot in the woods – until they move – they are so well camouflaged. They are not so timid though as they let me get quite close to them in the woods before they moved on.

They are probably escapees from the Tregothnan estate, they have a large herd there.
