Great news for visitors this summer – two fabulous new places to eat out. The Watch House in St Mawes has been refurbished over the winter and is now serving a great menu of locally sourced food with an emphasis on sustainably caught fish. You will need to book – they are so busy we have not managed to get in there yet, but everyone who has been so far says its great.
Also the Hidden Hut above Porthcurnick beach is now serving light meals during the day and also organising some special evening events with home made fishcakes, grilled mackerel, etc – again for the evening you have to book and of course the seating is outside so it’s fingers crossed for good weather.
The Driftwood Hotel restaurant goes from strength to strength – it’s definitely the place to go for a special treat – with three courses for £43.00. If you can find an excuse it is well worth it a visit with fabulous views, three well deserved AA rosettes and thoughtful service. We had an awesome meal there ourselves last week – of course only so that we could share the outcome with you all!
Finally, sadly we are no longer recommending Smugglers at Tolverne for evening meals – despite doing great lunches and teas they just cannot seem to get it together in the evenings this year. A real shame as last year it was really very good. We have had two sets of guests very disappointed with food/and or service, so please save that glorious view for daytime visits.
