Best Restaurants to Visit in Cornwall

Best restaurants cornwall

Eating out in Cornwall is a true treat and we’ve picked out some of the best restaurants for you to enjoy.

Ever since Rick Stein opened his first seafood restaurant in Cornwall 40 (yes that’s 40!) years ago, the food in Cornwall has just got better and better.

Here are just a few of our favourite restaurants:

Porthminster Beach Cafe, St Ives

A multi award winning seafood restaurant.  The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, they specialise in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine and it is an oasis of taste and visual beauty.  Open daily for Breakfast, Lunch and dinner. Our favourite on the menu is the starter of crispy fried squid with citrus miso dressing, squid ink and black spice – we think there would be outrage if they ever tried to take it off the menu!

The Driftwood, Rosevine

Just three miles from us,  Chris Eden – the only Cornish born and bred chef to have a Michelin Star. However, the restaurant is not pretentious in any way and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.  Their aim is simply to awaken your taste buds with delicious flavours and textures obtained through the hard work of a  dedicated team, and incorporating only the freshest seafood and finest, west country meats. Always worth getting there a bit early to enjoy an aperitif on the deck overlooking the sea.

Rick Stein’s, Falmouth

Since not everyone can afford the sublime Seafood Restaurant at Padstow (and it can be hard to get booked in) we thoroughly recommend the Falmouth outpost! The seafood restaurant in Falmouth serves Rick’s favourite dishes such as grilled sea bream fillets, moules marinière, grilled lobster, shucked oysters as well as classic fish and chips. As well as the seafood restaurant, there is a takeaway serving fish and chips, tiger prawns, fish chilli burgers, battered oysters and more.

No 2 Fore Street, Mousehole

Now we are letting you into a big secret here, we adore this relaxed and stylish bistro-style restaurant on Mousehole harbour front with views across Mount’s Bay as well as a beautiful secluded garden to enjoy the long summer days. The menu changes regularly to reflect the freshest of local produce with an array of mouthwatering options from a hand-picked crab salad, to a delicious homemade burger to grilled lemon sole fillets with samphire.

The Falmouth Bay Seafood Cafe, Truro

Offers the very best in fresh local produce. A great favourite of ours is either the mussels or the fillet of turbot, crab crushed jersey royals, brown shrimp, cucumber and almond butter sauce, mmmmm….mouthwatering!

These are just a little taster of the fabulous restaurants in Cornwall and we haven’t even mentioned the pubs yet….
