On the day that it was announced that even Cornwall officially has a water shortage, we spotted the first swallows of the summer. Flying over the fields around Messack in theĀ late afternoon. Four of them swooped and swerved to catch small insects at dusk. What a beautiful sight.
Swallows are small birds with dark, glossy-blue backs, red throats, pale underparts and long tail streamers. They are extremely agile in flight and spend most of their time on the wing.
Oh and then it poured with rain all night….. but its gloriously sunny again this morning – we could get used to this only raining at night thing that’s been happening here all spring!

You do have some very early visitors, no such luck with any swallows here in North Wales , but it won’t be long.
