Dolphins in Gerrans Bay

Filed under: Nature in Cornwall — roundhousebarns @ 11:38 am

What a wonderful sight as I walked along the coastal path to Porthbean beach – a pair of bottlenose dolphins – they seemed to be catching flat fish on the bottom and then bringing them up to toss them in the air before eating them – it certainly looked very playful!

I watched for an hour (the dogs were most fed up with waiting for me!).

The St Mawes to Falmouth ferry has also seen dolphins several times in the last week or so, there is definately a large pod in the bay at the moment so watch out for them while you are walking or on the beaches.
