Reducing Carbon Emissions - Carbon Offsetting
Because of our rural nature, our guests tend to either drive or fly to Cornwall. We have just started up a Carbon Offsetting scheme with an organisation called Climate Care. Travel Options
Whilst the majority of our guests use their own car to visit cornwall, there are a number of other options which are worth considering - especially if you have a loathing of sitting in stop-go traffic on our motorway network. Here are a few other ways which might help take the stresses and strains out of getting to Cornwall. Some of them offer a greener option as well.
Let the train take the strain
if you wanted a relaxing journey - and view some of South Devon's best coastal scenery while you're at it - you can also take a train direct to Truro and pick up a hire car from the train station. Click on the link to the left for the National Railways website. You can get some amazing value train deals if you book suficiently far in advance. When you arrive at Truro train station, the Hertz' office is just alongside Platform 1.
Buses and coaches
There is a very good network of public transport available from Truro and St Austell that enable you to access most of Cornwall using public transport, including St Ives, Padstow, The Lizard, Lands End. We'd encourage you to take advantage of our public transport network whenever you can. Fly to Newquay and pick up a hire car
You can fly to Newquay airport (40 minutes by car from us) from a number of UK airports. These include:
- London Gatwick,
- London City,
- London Stansted,
- Bristol,
- East Midlands,
- Manchester,
- Leeds Bradford,
- Newcastle,
- Glasgow,
- Edinburgh,
- Dublin, and
- Cork.
There are two car hire companies that operate from Newquay Airport - Hertz and Europcar/National. Come out of the arrivals hall and both offices are on the right hand side across the forecourt.
