St Ives September Festival

What’s it all about?

Started in 1978, the festival lasts for fifteen days offering a wide range of music, arts and literature events in locations throughout St Ives, attracting visitors from far and wide.

What happens?

With music, visual arts, poetry, literature, theatre and cinema on offer around St Ives, in Cornwall.

The latest acts confirmed are Seth Lakeman, Moulettes, The Dylan Project, Keltrix, Soft Machine with Keith Tippett, Richard Digance, Sarah Gillespie, Fake Thackray, Baldrick’s Plan, Tirha Tavas, Dave Pegg & Anthony John Clarke, Sally Barker, The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, The Whitetop Mountain Band, The Emerald Dawn, The Nigel Price Trio, The Corineus Quartet, Kenwyn String Quartet, Penzance Youth String Orchestra, Marazion Apollo Male Voice Choir, Heinichen Ensemble, and The Mighty Bucca Du. They join Steve Knightley, Andy Fairweather Low & The Low Riders, The Producers Blues Band and Kent Duchaine, Fisherman’s Friends, Kernow King, The South, and Hawkwind.

Ticket prices vary depending upon event, from £20 to £22.50.

Ticketed gigs take place at The Guildhall and The Western Hotel which hosts a full programme. There will be music of all types in the Guildhall and the Pubs.

Other attractions

Other attractions include arts workshops and classes, arts exhibitions, talks, walks, theatre, comedy, films, cabaret, street entertainment, poetry, and many other events. As well as Open Studios, where local artists open their workspaces to the public in order to feature their work in art, ceramics, textiles and glass; there will also be an art exhibition in the St Ives School of Painting and ceramic pit firing on Porthmeor Beach.

Did you know?

There are only four Tate Galleries in the world and one of them is right here in St Ives. Opened in 1993 in recognition of the international importance of art in Cornwall and St. Ives in particular, the impressive gallery holds hundreds of works produced by the St. Ives School from the late 1800’s through to the 21st century.
