December is a wonderful time to come to Cornwall. With the leaves off the trees, there's simply more stunning scenery to see. The coastal path is still here (despite the winds and rain in November - simply bring some good walking boots and explore our wonderful coastline. December is also an ideal time to visit Cornwall and pick up a quirky Christmas gift from one of many independent retailers and at the host of Christmas Craft Fairs.
Here are a selection of things to do around and about The Roseland Peninsula in December.
There's also a very useful publication called Cornwall Today that provides much more information and can be purchased in almost all newsagents in the County. Two other good sources of information are King Harry's Cornwall and the Visit Cornwall websites.
1 - 31 December - Ice Skating at Eden. Have a great time on the ice at Eden. If you're not the ice-skating sort, go along, enjoy the biomes and have a laugh at everyone else falling over on the ice rink!
3 December - The Naked Garden. Join a member of the garden team to hear how evergreens and conifers can form the perfect backdrop to a summer garden and enliven stark winter months. Trelissick Garden, Feock 11am.
4 December - Eden Christmas Bash. Join King Porter Stomp, Chris Levin, Cape Farewell Artists and Jelly Jazz for an evening of live music and festivities at Eden. From 7pm Eden Project, Bodelva, St Austell.
7 December - A Cornish Christmas at Heligan. Enjoy the magical lantern-lit tour of the Northern Gardens and visit the tea room where seasonal refreshments will be served. 5.30pm, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Pentewan, St Austell.
9 - 13 December. Victorian Christmas Market. On the Piazza every day until 5.30pm - food, drink and crafts. Lemon Quay, Truro from 9am each day.
10 December - Jazz at the Brewery. Enjoy an evening at the St Austell brewery listening to Jazz and supping the odd ale of three. 8pm, St Austell Brewery, Trevarthain Road, St Austell.
12 December - Christmas Lantern-lit Walk. Follow the lantern-lit trail around Trebah Gardens, see lantern sculptures and enjoy a whole new sensory experience. from 4pm Trebah Gardens, Mawnan Smith.
11 - 31 December - Mousehole Christmas Lights. The now famous light show starts on 11th December and carries on through the entire Xmas period. A great evening out. Remember to book a table for supper however! Mousehole Harbour nr. Penzance.
17 December - A Tale of Two Gardens. A two course lunch followed by an informative talk by John Lanyo, head gardener at both Trelissick and Glendurgan. Trelissick Gardens, Feock from 12:30pm.
20 December - Winter Solstice Lantern Walk at Trelissick Gardens. Wrap up warm put on some good footwear and stroll through Trelissick's magical gardens. 4pm Trelissick Gardens, Feock.
