What's on - November 2008
Irrespective of the season, there's always something going on in Cornwall. We've set out below some ideas for great days out. There's also a very useful publication called Inside Cornwall that provides much more information and can be purchased in almost all newsagents in the County. Two other good sources of information are King Harry's Cornwall and the Visit Cornwall websites.
Great days out
November - February - Ice Skating at Eden. The ice skating ring at The Eden Project opens in early November. The full festive wonderland festival runs from 28 November 2008 - 4 January 2008, complete with a Christmas market, choirs, an alternative Father Christmas, roasted chestnuts and mulled wine.
1 November- Trebah's Lantern Walk. As Trebah celebrates 21 years of being open to the public, you are invited to walk a special route through the garden, which will be carefully lit by lanterns and spotlights specially placed fro dramatic effect. Trebah Garden, Helford Passage.
6 - 9 November - Cornwall Film Festival . Offering local and national premiers, master classes, workshops, discussion and networking events for everyone from the enthusiast to the professional. National Maritime Museum, Falmouth.
15 November - Mylor Local Producers Fair. Looking for a special Christmas present? Browse the range of locally sourced gifts and produce including jewellery, quilting, woodwork, stationery, jams, plants, wreaths, spiced chutneys, xmas puddings etc. Tremayne Hall, Mylor Bridge 10am - 4pm.
16 - 22 November - Festival of Fowey. The second festival of the sea takes place in Fowey Hall. Throughout the week, a range of gastronomic events supported by selected wine producers from around the world will give guests the chance to sample local seasonal produce.
19 Nov - Truro City Festival of Lights. Join this festival as a host of beautiful, large-scale lantern-sculptures created by local schools, youth groups and artists winds it was around Truro city centre. The city centre Christmas lights will be turned on at the start of the parade. At the end, there is a spectacular firwork display best viewed from Lemon Quay. Truro city centre, 6pm.
23 November - Winter Bird Walk. Search for wintering birds and watch for a pied wagtail roost gathering as the sun sets. Loe Pool, Helston 2pm - 4pm.
26 - 29 November. Made in Cornwall Fair. More than 70 local businesses from Bude - Penzance, selling a wide variety of food, paintings, clothing, jewellery, woodcraft and ceramics/ Lemon Quay, Truro.
