Out and About
Roundhouse Barns is tucked away on the western side of the Roseland Peninsula in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From our front door, there are magnificent walks along the rugged coastline to view not only the stunning scenery but also:
- the bird life (guillemots, cormorants, shags, grey herons, sky larks, yellow hammers and woodpeckers) and
- the marine life including seals and occasionally dolphins.
Our temperate climate also encourages many exotic plant species to thrive - many of which can be seen at the amazingly tranquil St Just In Roseland Church (2 miles away). Close by are also the well known fishing ports of St Mawes and Portscatho steeped with character and many interesting shops and restaurants to explore.
But there is so much more for the active and the not so active on our doorstep. Click on the links below to discover some of our favourites...
- Walking on the Roseland and the Coastal Path
- Cycling, cycle hire and cycle paths
- Golfing
- Beaches
- Sailing and other water sports
- Food and drink
- Cornwall attractions
There's also a great website called Activities in Cornwall where you can book and pay online for a range of first class Holiday Activities in Cornwall. They cater for families, singles, couples & groups and for beginners to experts alike. The company has scanned Cornwall to find the very best outdoor activities and they'll arrange them for you. From coasteering or helicopter flights to canoeing and clay pigeon shooting... they have something for everyone.
If you are able, we also encourage guests to minimise the use of cars. We provide public transport timetables in all our cottages and B&B rooms. There are also many great days out on the water, on foot or using the railway stations at either Truro or St Austell.
You can also telephone the Roseland Visitor Centre on 01326 270440 for the latest tourist information.
From our guests...
“Another delightful week in your comfortable cottage - inspite of the storm! delicious baking too. Thank you for the warm welcome.”
