Over 70 yachts set off from Falmouth to race to the Azores in the largest ocean-going race to leave Britain in 2015. Designated the Red Ensign AZAB, the race was established in 1975 by the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club. The race from Falmouth to the Azores and back is a distance of some 2,500 miles and competitors meet challenging conditions at every stage of the race.
Visitors to Falmouth will be able to view preparations by competitors at Pendennis Marina adjacent to the National Maritime Museum, Falmouth from 4 – 5 June. The race will start from Black Rock, Carrick Roads and viewed from either Pendennis Castle or Pendennis Head on 6 June.
